
Once you are hired, you will be sent a contract of employment and requested to submit the following. Please be sure to confirm your consultant on whether or not you will take this position. This means you are at STEP 6 of the Hiring Proces as shown in our "How to apply" page.
If there is anything you are not fully sure about, do not make assumptions. Ask your consultant for help.

Once the following are received, your visa process will begin. For further details regarding documents. Please click on the icon that describes you.
Book Flights
For those applying now, you will not be able to fly in on August 24th thus you will be given specific details on how to book your flights individually. E-tickets will be provided to you directly from KAL to you through email and will be sent to you a day or two before your departure. There seems to be some delay in this process at the moment. If you are in Europe, just submit your flight booking form without making any reservations.
Get your Visa
In August you will receive
your contract and notice of appointment document (so called "Visa Package")
Fedexed to you directly from SMOE. Thus it is important that you type your
correct address in the flight booking form as this is the address your Visa
Package will be sent to. Once received, it will be your turn to submit documents
to your nearest Korean Consulate. Make a call in advance to make sure you
have everything you need. It usually takes 5 business days at the Korean Consulates.
SMOE applications do not go through an interview at the Korean Consulates.
The Korean Consulate
may require the following (it differs by country and location) :
-Documents you received from SMOE
-Passport
-Visa application form (download from this page)
-Visa fee (Visa fees are not supported.)
-Copy of your apostilled criminal background check
-Sealed transcripts (Korean Consulates in Canada DO require another set of
sealed transcripts)
-Copy of your notarized/apostilled or original Degree
If you are located far away from the Korean Consulate ask them in advance
about how mail back and forth your documents.
Airport arrival & Orientation
More than 200 teachers
will be arriving and leaving together at Incheon airport to go an orientation
ceneter for a 1 week paid orientation before you are guided to your designated
schools. Upon your arrival, please sign up with a Koreaconnections
representative at the meeting point in the airport lobby.
Orientation:
More then 250 teachers will be hired for next Spring.
-Rooms will be
shared during the orientation.
-Paid Residential.
-Dress code for orientation: semi casual (no sandals, no sleaveless shirts
etc.)
-Your contract begins February 27th so you begin to get paid starting February
27th.
-Your first pay day : March 27th, 2009
-For those who buy airfare with teachers own money, reimbursements for flights
will be wire-transferred directly to your bank account on March 27th, 2009..
Teachers who arrive in
Korea in advanced are required to inform your consultant where you will be
staying, contact number and email address. And also to check your email frequently

Dress Code
SMOE hires are asked to wear business casual and bring along atleast one professional suit and tie for special occasions and your first day at School. It is always beneficial for you to look professional. Giving a good first impression always goes a long way. Dress code for orientation: semi casual (no sandals, no sleaveless shirts etc.)
Tax
If you are coming to teach in Korea for the first time and would like to apply for tax exemption, you must submit your residence certificate (Excluding Canadians). The submission deadline is to have it submitted to SMOE prior to your first salary day in the end of March 2009.

When you receive your eticket (Teachers leaving from Europe will not receive an eticket from KAL, but from the agency listed on your flight booking form)
If you have not yet received your eticket, or if KAL tells you that your ticket has not been paid yet, please inform your consultant. However all reservation information has been forwarded to SMOE and SMOE forwards your information to KAL for them to make your arrangements and email you your eticket. When you receive your eticket, you MUST click on the eticket to confirm you have received it. (see below)

Depending on your arrival date, you may be transferred by bus or call taxi
provided by SMOE upon arrival.
